Wayfaring Day-in & Day-out

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

“That is the charm of a map. It represents the other side of the horizon where everything is possible. It has the magic of anticipation without the toil and sweat of realization. The greatest romance ever written pales before the possibilities of adventure that lie in the faint blue trails from sea to sea. The perfect journey is never finished, the goal is always just across the next river, round the shoulder of the next mountain. There is always one more track to follow, one more mirage to explore. Achievement is the price which the wanderer pays for the right to venture.” – Rosita Forbes, From Red Sea to Blue Nile (1925)

“Everything is transitory.” – Buddhist saying

The Grandest Journey Of All

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew. [Quran 29:64]

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allah is the [final] destination. [Quran 35:18]

Who Writes Here

The author is an anonymous Muslim, deep thinking vagabond, third culture kid, medical doctor in-training, history and science enthusiast, technology freak, who finds pleasure in photography, ethnography, being a life-long learner and much much more.

What Is Written Here

Patchwork of observations, ruminations, deliberations, reflections on life and everything in between.

I have a second blog that is not written under a pseudonym, where I write a lot of stuff on all kinds of topics, many of which are academic. This blog shall also gain similar content over time, Insha’Allah.

Wait! That’s Not Good Enough!

Someday (soon hopefully) Insha’Allah, a more elaborate About page will be up!

I Think I Know You!

If you’re an acquaintance who thinks has an idea as to the identity of the author, an earnest yet humble request: respect privacy & anonymous blogging. In the pursuit of free human expression and the sharing of ideas, few tools are as valuable yet as equally faced with the growing threat of extinction as anonymous blogging; either by malicious intent or by sloppy behavior of fellow bloggers or people known to the author. The privacy group, Electronic Frontier Foundation, has a few good pointers on blogging and privacy.
